She presented three of her works to “The Memorial of The Victims of Soviet Occupation,” an international design competition sponsored and supervised by the Ministry of the Republic of Latvia. There were 55 submissions in all from Latvian and international artists. Her works were displayed both at the exhibition and in the annual catalog published on page 166 through page 171 as illustrated below.
Behind The Wall
This is a woman who wants to pass through a wall. Her hand is on both sides of the wall, signifying that perhaps we all want to escape, but they will not let us. The sculpture looks like a shadow, which is always with us both physically and mentally.
Beheaded Woman
This symbolic sculpture illustrates a headless woman who holds her own decapitated head. Her inspiration for the head came from the Middle Ages when executioners would cover their faces. But why did she make it like this? She thinks that only an experienced woman can keep her head hanging.
Two Worlds
This artwork consists of two sides resembling two different worlds; one is full of color and innocence, while the other is dark and horrifying.
